Spring kissed cold earth
To warmth of life
And gave a crocus birth,

Caressed bare trees
That flowering bud
Unfold to hungry bees.

Spring sang his best
To far-off birds
And wooed them home to nest,

And thus the heart
Long sleeping stirs
To spring's sly, subtle art.
